Laurie's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
December 19, 2003
Hello everyone -
I read Kim's diary and I felt guilty for not writing lately - but there hasn't been much going on here for a while. Getting ready for Christmas and Hannah's 3rd birthday is all that takes up my time lately.
Yep - my beautiful, precious, little "baby" is three on January 16. I cannot believe that 3 years have gone by with this precious child and that I have been the lucky mother to share her life with her. She is more than I could have ever hoped for.
We are driving home for 9 hours for Christmas on Tuesday. I am looking forward to seeing my parents again even though Hannah and I just got back from surprising them two weeks ago. But my mom is my best friend and I enjoy every minute with her. I love having someone that I can just laugh with at the stupidest things. My dad actually thinks we are nuts when we get together and we are. But that is the special bond we have. It is scary to think what my life would be like without them. My dad lost his mom 11 years ago now, which means he was 43 (my grandmother was 70). That is only 12 years away for me and when you get older 1, 5, and even 10 years fly by so quickly.
I had the flu shot and got sick. My daughter had the flu shot and got sick. This year has been bad for everyone all around in this area. I do know that I felt like death for 4 days. I haven't felt that bad in years. Hopefully Hannah will be completely over it by the weekend or at least by the time we get to Iowa, but with 7 grandchildren in the Iowa cold, they are bound to spread it back and forth.
Hannah is doing great and really talking up a storm. I never tried to talk "baby talk" to her so she talks so grown up and everyone thinks she is so much older than she is. I need to start looking into preschools for her for the new school year.
As for the potty training - still not a hit. She cries when I ask her to sit on the potty - I really cannot figure it out - oh well, I am still not panicked - she is not even 3 (yet!) and my niece took to it at 3 1/2 so I won't push her if she seems not ready about it.
Oh well, that is about all - I hope everyone has a happy and safet holiday season and a blessed new year!!!
