Keeping Ties After Adoption
Help Your Child Hold on to Heritage
By Julie Laatsch-Kitchen
1. How old were your children when you traveled with the Ties Program? Our sons were 15 and 11 when we traveled. They were both adopted from Korea arrived at 4 months from Holt and 6 months from Eastern Social Welfare, respectively. Our 16-year-old, Ryan Jin Ho, was a perfect age for the trip. Our 11-year-old, Justin Jang Soo, was perhaps a year younger than would have been optimal, since some of the experiences went over his head, but he still gained a lot of insight and experience from the trip.
