Inexpensive, Creative Valentine Options for the Whole Family

Use craft foam, card stock or construction paper to make crowns for your family. Fashion "gems" (purchased at discount or craft centers) with sayings of love and royal names such as "Sir Zachary – King of Hearts" onto the crowns. Your family can enjoy a light-hearted evening together showing off your newest head gear.

Puppy Love
Children love acknowledging their pets during the holidays, and Valentine's Day is no exception. One of the best gifts your children can give their beloved family pet is good health and safety. Virtually every local pet supply center has easy-to-use machines that create pet tags in approximately five minutes. Taking the time to update your family pet's information and etching it onto a heart-shaped tag gives everyone peace of mind.

While you're there, your child can select an inexpensive red collar to match the tag he helped create. Another option is to use scraps of themed fabric cut into a large triangle to make a quick new bandana for your furry friend. Remember that small children may require assistance when putting the bandana on your dog to avoid injury to your child and your pet.
